Residents in London’s south-east face a new safety advisory as police hunt for a 38-year-old inmate who escaped a medical facility. Metropolitan Police officers are searching for Anthony Lloyd after he forced his way out of a health unit in Lewisham shortly after 4:00 pm on Friday, October 23. The force has instructed the public not to approach him if spotted.

Police described Lloyd as posing a risk to both himself and the public. He was last seen at approximately 4:10 pm on Friday, heading toward the Catford area. Detectives believe he could be anywhere within the capital. They noted that he has connections to seven other regions, including Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside.

Lloyd is a white man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. When he left the facility, he wore a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. His presence in the medical unit stemmed from a transfer in September from a standard prison environment.

The escape followed a 12-month custodial sentence imposed in 2025. Lloyd was convicted of actual bodily harm related to an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. The Press Association reported the conviction details, which led to his initial imprisonment before the recent move to the Lewisham clinic.

Det. Supt. Melanie Pressley is leading the search operation. She stated that officers are conducting various inquiries to locate Lloyd and return him to custody. “We are concerned he poses a risk both to himself and the public, and would urge anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him,” she said. Her team is also appealing for information, however small, from members of the public to help locate the fugitive.

Anyone with details is asked to call 999 and quote the reference CAD4739/23Oct. The search remains active as detectives work to narrow down Lloyd’s location. The force continues to coordinate resources across the affected areas to secure his return to custody.
